Preliminary Seminar Details

Class 1 Explosives Seminar
Tuesday 3rd October 2023

Closing Date For Registrations: 26 September 2023

We are delighted to be holding a 1-day seminar, focussed on Class 1 Explosives on Tuesday 3rd October 2023 at Crewe Hall Hotel, Crewe.

Our Class 7 Radioactive substances seminar last year was well attended and received. Don't miss out, register now!

Draft Agenda

We have had confirmation from the HSE DG Explosives department that they will send an inspector to enlighten us to the role that they perform and an insight into the classification arrangements.

An explosive engineer, Daniel Jubb will also present to explain his world of testing and some special types of explosives.

A presentation prepared by Eric Johnson, BSc(Hons), CMILT, SO1 Assure Dangerous Goods, MOD Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor, Movement & Transport Safety Regulator, will provide the classification aspects from the military side of things.

Explosives licensing expert and BADGP member, Danny Kay will explain the peripheral documentation and arrangements that is required for the beginning and end of the transport phase of explosives.

Sean Keown, FSyl, Transport Security Inspector from the DfT’s HCDG team will offer us the detail of what they are looking for in relation to explosives when they do their audits.

Les Richings and Beccy Ricketts will provide an insight into their experience of dealing with explosives as both DGSAs and as a transport operator respectively.

Plus, if the transport planning Gods are permitting, we are hoping to have a special vehicle arrive for us to examine during a break in the proceedings.

Already booked to attend as delegates are representatives from the DfT and VCA so this is a great opportunity to come and learn more about a subject that your certificate tells you that you are qualified to advise on. Even if you don’t know - you might have to in the future.

There are many ways you can support the seminar - attendance is the best method, telling others about it or taking up the offer of direct marketing to those that do attend.

The seminar is open to BADGP members and those with an interest in dangerous goods.

Don't miss out, register now!
