BADGP are delighted to announce a new webinar, 'Dangerous Goods Special Provisions - Road, Air & Sea' on Tuesday 21st April 2026, 13:00 - 14:00 BST.

Have you had your shipment derailed at the acceptance stage due to an extra requirement you didn’t realise was there? Is there something extra that could make it more straightforward for you to ship dangerous goods?

Keeping pace with ever evolving dangerous goods regulations is essential for ensuring safety, compliance, and smooth global movement of goods. In this focused one-hour session, our experts will break down the key Special Provisions across ADR (road), IATA (air), and IMDG (sea)—clarifying where they align, where they differ, and how they impact your day-to-day operations.

    You’ll gain practical insights into:

    • How Special Provisions modify or exempt standard requirements
    • Common pitfalls and how to avoid regulatory misunderstandings
    • Real world examples across multimodal transport
    • Tips for ensuring compliance while improving operational efficiency

Whether you're new to dangerous goods or looking for a concise refresher, this webinar will equip you with the clarity and confidence needed to navigate multimodal Special Provisions with ease.

    Our Presenters

We are delighted to have as our presenters:

    Sue Lee, DGSA
Sue is a healthcare supply chain professional and dangerous goods trainer with extensive experience shipping clinical and commercial drugs, and clinical samples. Sue has been a qualified DGSA for over 25 years, involved in GxP process development and application, utilising risk management and logistics planning. Sue cares passionately about compliance, and achieving right time, right temperature, and right place deliveries for critical shipments, and transferring her knowledge and experience to the next generation of dangerous goods professionals.

    Daniel Flack, DGSA, NEBOSH
Daniel is a First Line Manager for Kuehne and Nagel in Portsmouth Dockyard. Daniel manages the dangerous goods stores, dealing with gas, battery, flammable substances, chemical, radioactive and segregation.

Daniel has worked in contractual logistics for 20 years, starting out as a Warehouse Operative, and then progressing to First Line Manager, DGSA and trainer. Daniel ensures that anyone dealing with dangerous goods are fully trained and compliant across all modes of transport.

In order to further his understanding of dangerous goods, Daniel has enrolled on the BADGP DGSA+ programme. This has given Daniel invaluable support and guidance, making him a better DGSA.

    Chris James
With over 23 years experience in the transport and logistics industry, Chris has built a career specialising in the transport of Dangerous Goods. His experience spans express logistics, e-commerce and the chemical industry, providing a broad perspective on the complexities and challenges within these sectors. In 2023, Chris was appointed as the Global Transport Safety Manager for a leading multinational science, chemical and materials company, responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of transport safety policies and procedures.

The UK’s DVSA has been busy this first month of 2026. In light of DVSA’s increasing involvement in dangerous goods, in particular the DGSA exam arrangements a new layout of the DGSA exam and its requirements (syllabus) has been published on the UK Government You Gov web pages.

This is a clearer approach to the exam content, times and number of questions that are posed. New samples of a previous test paper in each exam has been provided but to date no guidance has been provided on sample answers, referencing or how the exam is marked.

The other publication  is their UK’  End of Year Annual Report Document Template for use by all DGSAs in the UK. Its use is not mandatory and it does not replace the version designed and provided for BADGP members. A full comparison of both reports will be provided in our next newsletter.

The UK is required, as an ADR contracting party, to respond to a question at WP15 a few years ago to report on the progress and support that is provided to DGSAs. Initially the DfT reached out to BADGP for assistance which we gladly gave in the form of designing an End of Year Report template, providing feedback on the exam syllabus and creating the post exam DGSA+ programme. BADGP were asked to share with all DG professional the End of Year template and to extend the DGSA+ programme beyond its members. After consideration BADGP took the decision to keep the report and programme as BADGP member benefits.

It is good to see that the DVSA are providing template and further explanation for all DGSAs in the community but we are naturally going to state that BADGP membership provides much more in the way of developing skills and knowledge that are essential to all DG professionals.
